Sally's AreA DESIGNAtion

  • After multiple meetings and conversations with representatives from Champlain Canal Corp, HOTH has been informed that the pathway we were attempting to designate as Sally's Trail is not available for subletting.
  • We were encouraged to continue to ENJOY the area as it has traditionally been used. Please remember to carry-in/carry-out and pick up any litter you see to keep the space clean and safe!
  • There are multiple other areas that are available to submit applications for use under HOTH and those options are being explored.
  • The Canal Corp has NOT received any application regarding a sewer line being run under the pathway or "O'Brien Way", a road connecting East Street Bridge and Rte. 197 Bridge.

Adopt-A-Trail

The Canalway Trail needs regular maintenance to keep it in good repair for biking, walking, and other trail activities. Grass needs to be mowed, brush cut, litter and weeds removed, and graffiti cleaned. In addition, some trail facilities need to be painted and repaired. State and local agencies are working hard to maintain the trail, but volunteers are needed to provide the regular attention and care to help make this trail a world class recreational resource.
