ESMI- Environmental Soil Management Inc. which is now own by clean earth.  

NYSDEC- New York State Department of Environmental Conservation accepts permits allowing companies to emit pollutants at levels below what is considered "safe".  They do not, however, enforce the permit once it is issued.

RD&D Permit- Research, Development, and Demonstrate Permit- Issued by the DEC for new projects to run tests and collect data about a new technology.

PFAS-  Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances- general term used to classify over 400 types of chemicals that do not break down in nature. 

Thermal Desorption-a treatment process that heats soil to exceed the boiling point of contaminants, allowing them to be desorbed (released/unabsorbed) and subsequently thermally oxidized into carbon dioxide and water.​
